Georgia Tech offers an expansive search engine to its students. The search engine brings up all sorts of articles and journal entries that would be very good for research and research papers. After using the search engine to find an article that relates to the course theme of Suburban Sprawl, I found an article that seemed rather interesting. The paper answers the question "Is Sprawl Associated with a Widening Urban-Suburban Mortality Gap?" While not directly related to the topic it seemed interesting to read. The paper "examines whether sprawl, featured by low development density, segregated land uses, lack of significant centers, and poor street connectivity, contributes to a widening mortality gap between urban and suburban residents." The major topics of the paper include: mortality, sprawl, smart growth, urban health penalty, health disparities. Among these topics sprawl and smart growth are two important recurring motifs in this class. There were many other articles that resulted from the "Suburban Sprawl" search but this article was the one that caught my eye and seemed the most interesting.
