Dissecting Suburban Sprawl

Sarah and Blake discussed the various effects of sprawl in places that they've visited, but i noticed that none of us have referenced an outside opinion. I was on youtube the other day and thought I would do a search on Kunstler. There are a few videos of his presentations on suburban sprawl. This video in particular, focuses on his rational behind the detrimental effects of sprawl. As we discussed in class, some of his arguments are far-fetched and even comical. Nonetheless, he makes valid points. The argument that I found he often returns to is the sheer revolting appearance of buildings in suburbia. Visual appeals are often the most noticeable signs of sprawl, but like many people that live in sprawl, the unfavorable aspects of cal-de-sacs, feeder streets, and subdivisions are never realized.
